A new ministry is starting at St. Frances Cabrini! Celebrate Recovery is a Christ centered recovery ministry for people experiencing all types of hurts. There are many types of hurts that this program will help heal. Are you, or do you know someone who is hurting from sexual abuse, domestic violence, broken relationships with a spouse, child or other family and friends? Do you or someone else struggle with eating disorders, co-dependency, pornography, gambling, cutting or any other dysfunctional behavior? What about a dependency on alcohol, or drugs? If you could think of someone with one of these hurts, then Celebrate Recovery is for them. It is a program that helps heal wounds. God wants all of His children to be free of the shame and guilt that many of life’s challenges bring. There is no stigma to attending Celebrate Recovery. It is a ministry rooted in the Church community where we can foster deeper levels of care, acceptance, trust and grace in a safe and confidential environment. Imagine all of the wonderful things God can do with us when our Church is free of all their hurts, hang ups and bad habits. Celebrate Recovery needs your prayers; for the strength to attend if you need it, for all the leaders involved and for the wisdom and courage to make this ministry grow and succeed. Please join us for our first meeting on Wednesday, September 3 at 6 p.m. in the Hall. We are all sinners and because of sin, we’ve all hurt ourselves, we’ve all hurt other people, and others have hurt us. This means each of us needs repentance and possibly recovery in order to live our lives the way God intended. Celebrate Recovery, the new ministry starting soon, is made up of seven features that make it unique and unlike any other recovery program. - CR is based on God’s Word, the Bible. (the Beatitudes)
- CR is forward-looking and does not dwell in the past.
- CR emphasizes personal responsibility. When we stop hiding our own faults and stop hurling accusations at others, then the healing power of Christ can begin working in our mind, will, and emotions.
- CR emphasizes spiritual commitment to Jesus Christ, calling for people to make a total surrender of their lives to Christ. Lasting recovery cannot happen without this step.
- CR utilizes the biblical truth that we need each other in order to grow spiritually and emotionally. It is built around small group interaction and the fellowship of a caring community.
- CR addresses all types of habits, hurts, and hang-ups; it is a “large umbrella” program under which a limitless number of issues can be dealt with.
- Finally, CR is a leadership factory, producing a continuous stream of people moving into ministry after they’ve found recovery in Christ.
